Vice Minister Niu Dun meets with Tunisian Agriculture Minister Mohamed Ben Salem

Visiting Vice Minister Niu Dun met with Tunisian Minister of Agriculture, Hydraulic Resources and Fisheries Mohamed Ben Salem in the City of Tunis on August 26th, 2013. They exchanged views on enhancing bilateral cooperation, especially fishery cooperation.

 

Niu highlighted the profound friendship between the two peoples, noting that the agriculture cooperation between the two countries has a long history and enjoys a solid foundation.

 

Since the signing of MOU on aquaculture cooperation between the two countries in 2005, the two sides have forged good cooperative relationship in fisheries,which has led to fruitful cooperation.

 

Niu stressed the two countries can complement each other in fishery sector since Tunisia is endowed with rich fishery resource while China has advanced aquaculture technology. China is willing to conduct pragmatic cooperation with Tunisia in high sea fishing and aquaculture by further diversifying cooperation patterns and expanding cooperation areas. In addition, China will encourage its enterprises to invest in Tunisia.

 

During the meeting, Niu briefed the Tunisian side of the latest developments of agriculture and fishery in China.

Echoing Niu''s comments on bilateral fishery cooperation, Salem expressed his admiration to China for remarkable achievements in agriculture and fisheries. Salem expressed Tunisia''s readiness to have cooperation with China in high sea fishing and aquaculture.

 

After the meeting, the two sides signed a plan on bilateral fishery cooperation and exchange for 2014-2015.
